2020 may have been an annus horribilis in many ways. The pandemic clearly also affected our work and disrupted academic publishing. However, it was still a successful year for publishing the research done in the Spatial Planning & Strategy section. Several books and many articles in leading journals written by our team were during that year, with news of manuscript acceptance and publication lifting our spirits during those difficult times. We covered a huge variety of topics in those publications, from regional design, ideology and rhetorics in planning, impacts of self-driving vehicles on cities, evolution of spatial planning systems in Europe, EU Cohesion Policy, citification of metropolitan regions, energy transition, planning for resilience and climate adaptation, urbanisation in Asia, spatial justice, inclusive public space, housing in the Netherlands, innovations in planning education, the spatial dimension of sexual violence in cities, to space syntax applications. Have a look below at the selection of the most important of our 2020 publications and enjoy the reading (links included).
