Editorial to a Special Issue of Cities on Planning resilient cities and regions by Ana Maria Fernandez-Maldonado

The editorial has been co-authored with Malgorzata Hanzl. The purpose of this special issue is to present various strategies and practices that have been applied to achieve climate resilience in cities and regions worldwide. The collection of 14 articles offer innovative contributions to the field of urban resilience in urban areas, filling research gaps and enriching current academic debates in planning. They bring new ideas and inspiration – in topics such as community involvement; implementation of plans; economic development; informal settlements; and others. They also provide advanced knowledge on more technical topics that confront adverse effects of climate change in cities and regions, such as risks of volcanic eruptions; challenges to pedestrian mobility and energy resources; and so forth.

This issue is in progress but Cities’ website contains articles that are final and fully citable. It will be published on paper in July 2021 (Vol. 114)
